As Senator, Libby has worked to make Maine better for business and workers:

-Reduced property taxes

Mainers have to deal with some of the harshest winters in America. That is why Libby Mitchell is taking steps to help Mainers lessen the impact of the cold.

• Established a Uniform Building and Energy Code, so new construction will be more energy efficient Energy picture
• Protected consumers from price gouging in emergencies
• Protected the most vulnerable Mainers while cutting the budget
• Fully funded the LIHEAP program to help seniors and families pay high heating bills

Our dependence on foreign oil is causing the current energy crisis. Libby Mitchell has been a leader on reducing Maine’s dependence on foreign oil. During her time in the Senate, Libby has:

• Passed legislation to promote wind generation resources by municipalities
• Created the Office of Energy Independence that includes a comprehensive biofuel plan to increase the availability and use of biofuels in Maine
• Passed legislation to increase the share of electric generation from renewable resources by 10% by 2017
